The International Quality Network program (IQN) at University of Siegen is a part of the IQN program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Under the objectives of IQN and by supervising of Prof. Dr. Hubert Roth, head of Institute of Control Engineering (RST), the projects in Mechatronics are continuingly researched.

The research activities are centred on the general objective to apply and implement the concepts of modern control theory. Especially, RST carries out research projects incorporating the development of mobile robotic systems, industrial and medical manipulators. A main emphasis is on the implementation of telematics in mechatronic and robotic systems. This expertise is transferred into education, particularly in a Master of Science Course in Mechatronics, taught in English.

Up to the present, by the funding of DAAD, 5 IQN students from India, Spain, and Thailand have been supervised by Prof. Dr. Hubert Roth. These students have done their Master Thesis or Ph.D. research in Mechatronics.
